Cheaper to run than their inkjet counterparts, laser printers are a cost-effective option for high-volume print output. With a compact footprint of just 396 x 353mm, the Lexmark E330 will also save space in the home office.
The solidly built unit has a 150-sheet capacity paper output tray moulded into the top of the case, with a single-sheet exit slot at the rear to simplify the print path of thicker paper stock or transparencies.
A 250-sheet input tray slides out of the front and features a paper-level indicator, so you can easily check to see that you've got enough during a print job. Just above this sits the manual feed slot with sliding guides that are easily adjustable to fit the dimensions of the media on which you are printing.
A button on the left-hand side of the Lexmark releases the front panel, which opens to reveal the toner cartridge. The cartridge itself has a handle to make removal and installation a doddle and the standard yield toner unit compatible with this printer (priced at £46.83) should last for 2,500 pages, according to Lexmark.
There are five printer status lights on the front of the E330, which indicate when the printer is ready to commence a job, when the toner is low, when you need to load more paper and when a paper jam or error has occurred. Power and cancel buttons sit just above these.
The E330 sped through our tests, living up to Lexmark's claimed printing speeds of 26 pages per minute for text, pdf and mixed image and text documents. Print quality was consistently excellent across the board; characters were solid with crisp outlines at all font sizes and shaded areas in images were smoothly reproduced.
